Seminar "Assessment of welding seams at cargo stoppers"
In cooperation with the „Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International GSI SLV, Hannover”, the VHT organised the first expert seminar „Assessment of welding seams at cargo stoppers“.
The workshop which was limited to 10 participants demonstrated possibilities how to assess the welding seams of cargo stoppers on board a vessel.
For this propose the theoretical and practical welding knowledge of the attendees was refreshed and in the following practical part the lecturer introduced various weld defects and their effect on the welding seam.
The second part of the course treated of the welding seam calculation as well as the visual quality check of fillet weldings. The a-measurement of welding samples was inspected by a weld size gauge and assessed according to international standard.
At the end of the day the participants had the possibility to practice their new knowledge. The seminar ended with questions and discussion.
The event was rounded off with a dinner the evening before, where the attendees had the possibility to get acquainted with each other. The different experiences and backgrounds of the participants were fruitful for the seminar.
The success of the workshop and the positive feedback of the attendees are motivation for us to offer more workshops. The demand is obvious. The second seminar in August is already fully booked, so there will be a third one on 5th of December 2017. A registration is still possible.
Der Workshop, der auf 10 Teilnehmer begrenzt war, sollte Möglichkeiten aufzeigen, wie an Bord eine Beurteilung von Schweißnähten an Ladungsstoppern erfolgen kann.
Dazu wurden die theoretischen und praktischen schweißtechnischen Grundlagen der Teilnehmer aufgefrischt. In dem praktischen Teil stellten die Dozenten die verschiedenen Schweißfehler und deren Auswirkung auf die Schweißnaht vor.
Der zweite Teil behandelte konkret die Schweißnahtberechnung sowie die Sichtprüfung mit Schweißnahtbewertung an Kehlnähten. Es wurde praktisch an Schweißproben mittels Schweißnahtlehre das a-Maß kontrolliert und nach internationalen Normen bewertet.
Zum Ende des Tages hatten die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit, im Rahmen einer Übung das gelernte Wissen anzuwenden. Eine Frage- und Diskussionsrunde beendete das Seminar.
Die Veranstaltung wurde abgerundet durch das vorabendliche Kennenlernen bei einem Abendessen und schon hier zeigte sich, wie sehr ein solches Seminarthema durch die unterschiedlichen Erfahrungen und Hintergründe der Teilnehmenden an Bedeutung gewinnt.
Der Erfolg des Seminars sowie die positiven Rückmeldungen spornen uns an, weitere Kurse anzubieten; der Bedarf ist vorhanden. Ein zweiter Termin im August ist bereits ausgebucht, so dass ein weiterer Workshop am 05. Dezember 2017 stattfinden wird. Hierzu sind noch Anmeldungen möglich.
