VHT - New Year Reception 2019

On 18th January with invitingly beaming blue sky, we were fortunate to welcome our guests to our New Year Reception at the Schütting in Bremen.

With the official welcome address and introduction, Mr. Arne Linke made his debut as chairman- only one and a half years after joining the board.  Expressing highest appreciation for Volker Dierks, who had left the board at the end of 2018, Mr. Linke was looking back with gratitude on the successful cooperation and wished him all the best for his future.  As successor of Mr. Dierks, Mr. Florian Krampitz is now adjusting to his new role. We wish him every success!

Then Mr. Linke continued by announcing current figures of fleets, losses, and turnovers which are indicating easing and stabilization. Following, our new Mannheim Office was introduced:  with this inland office, opened in October 2018, we intend to intensify our attention to our clients’ interests in the field of River Hull.

Last year an IT Basic Protection Profile designed for shore operation of shipping companies was developed in cooperation with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).  This profile is meant as tool – not only for improving of the cyber protection of shipping companies but also for meeting data protection requirements in compliance with BDSG and DSGVO as well as with view to the ISO 9001 certification.  According to the IMO announcement such a cyber protection approach has to be presented by 1st January, 2021.  The IT Basic Protection Profile designed for ship operation we will work out together with the participants in 2019.

Coming events are casting their shadows before:

The VHT will be represented with an own booth on the BREAKBULK EUROPE from 21st to 23rd  May, 2019 and on this occasion we will, in particular, introduce our Cargo Services.

And with projects huge in the sense of both volume and weight, even longer shadows are casted ahead:

The IUMI Jubilee Conference will be hosted by the VHT and the GDV in Berlin in 2024!

But for now, we wish you all a healthy and successful 2019!
